Loreto, Part 2: Dancing Dolphins

Dancing with Dolphins....

The five of us were full of sun and images of fish and seals and rocks and birds and beaches. We were relaxing for the ride back to the dock while the captain put his fishing line in one more time to try to finish catching dinner for his family.  One, three taco, fish does not feed two growing boys.  Then the captain got a call on his radio from one of the other tour captains.  The dolphins were playing!  In came the fishing line and off we took to find the dolphins.

They were very close to us and to where we had just come from.  Suddenly they were everywhere!   We followed then in the boat for a short while and then it seemed as if some of them followed us, racing the boat through the waves.  I think we heard them laughing.  I know that we heard our own laughter and wows and oh mys.....   My camera does not take rapid pictures but I don't think it mattered because there were so many of them playing in the pod.  The ones that Liz and I had seen from our kayaks appeared to be feeding. This group appeared to be dancing with the pure delight of dolphin'ness.   Singing to the gods of water and waves and the joy of jumping.

Zooming in on the action was not needed. They brought the action to us, again and again.

Can you hear the splashing of delight over the sound of the engine?

Racing along side the boat, just because they could.....

Their sleek bodies jump and glide through the waters with abundant grace.  We were in the presence of a great gift.

Beneath the water on the left you can see another one of the dolphins racing our panga.
