California Girls.....

Several of the women from the WomenRV Forum are here in Southern California waiting for our friend Beth to finish up her seasonal work at Amazon and arrive.  Once Beth arrives several of us are planning to head on down towards the border and proceed to the crossing into Baja.

We have enjoyed visiting and exploring a few areas.

Liz and I drive into one of the suburbs of LA to visit the Lazy Daze Factory.  Lazy Daze is one of the top Class C manufactures. But they are a small family own company that sell new units from the factory direct.  I don't know what the waiting period is now but it used to be 6 months to get your custom ordered unit.   The bodies of the units including the roof are all aluminum and all the little nooks and corners of the inside have been utilized to maximize inside storage. Out side storage is not all that ample.  As with many models, there are definitely trade offs.  They requested no photos so I didn't.

Lyn arrives with her truck camper she bought this spring so that she could get back on the road. She lives in San Diego now but was a fulltimer for 16 years.  She has traveled to all the lower 48 states and Alaska.

I picture of some of Sharon's toys.

Chewy, Sharon's pupper, supervises the arrival.

Lyn and her girl Casey come get to meet everyone.

Now that Lyn has been welcomed and parked, Liz and Sharon go back to getting ready for a ride in Sharon's Raz.  "Buckle Up" and remember to wear your goggles.....

Off they go.

Down across the field there were a series of troughs and hills to run up and down.   I took pictures of Liz and she took pictures of my ride.

Liz took her Karoo off the top of her car and got ready to fasten to the top of her RV so she can take it down to Baja with us.  Both Liz and I are planning to leave our cars here in Sharon's fenced back yard with her other toys.  If we are lucky she might even unlock the gate and let us get them back when we return.  Sharon take a turn with her paddle to see how it feels.  Chewy thinks riding without her life jacket makes it much more comfortable.   Lyn just finds us entertaining.

The Sharon and Mitch help lift it to Liz who is already on top of the rig.  It only weighs 17 pounds which is why Liz like it so much.

Liz had had a special frame made to attach the canoe/kayak to the top.

And we almost forgot to notice the lovely sunset.   Lyn reminded us....

But we didn't forget to eat dinner or clean up the kitchen.

Mitch had spent part of her afternoon shopping at a Mexican Grocery. She found a "drinking" coconut and shared it with everyone.  Except for listening to Mitch remind everyone to "suck it" and the laughter.... Lyn and Liz reported that it was tasty just not what they needed everyday.  Mitch also explained the difference between drinking coconuts and eating coconuts.  Drinking coconuts have to be taken from the tree before they fall.

Laura was driving over to visit the Sharon Compound after school on Friday. Sadly, not all of us are retired yet.   When she found out that Liz and I were driving in to look at the Lazy Daze RVs, she suggested that we check out a nearby Cupcake store.

It was a challenge that Liz and I took seriously.  We found the Cup Cakery and lunch was a cup cake. Sometimes dessert just needs to come first!   We also brought a dozen minis back to the "campground" to share.

Saturday, Laura offered to drive anyone who wanted to come along, down to the beach.   We ended up at San Clemente and the pier.

We had to wait for the Amtrak train to zip past.

And then we headed down to the beach and lunch.

We got to watch the surfer dudes.....

Laura and Liz watching the surfers. Liz with her camera.

And Laura and Liz figuring out how to pay for the parking.

Walking out on the pier.

Mermaids surfing......

We walked back to front of the pier to find lunch at the pier restaurant.

Somehow it all made me think of hard drinking dogs throwing trash around.

The pigeons didn't seen to have read the "not for drinking" Salt Water sign.....

Lunch was delicious but Laura needed to get us back to Sharon's and drive back to her house and her Jeb puppy.   The route that we took both coming and going took us back Camp Pendleton.   On one side down towards the ocean Laura pointed out the series of huts. She said that they were designed to look like the buildings in Iraq and/or Afghanistan and are used for training purposes.

Beth is expected to arrive by about noon tomorrow and the Baja adventures will move forward to the next stage.
