"It is in the wild places, where the edge of the earth meets the corners of the sky, the human spirit is fed." Art Wolf

Driving towards Mulege Liz and I took a side trip into San Ingacio.  In effect we finally found what looked like a small Mexican village.   We have a friend Carol and her husband that winter each year on the mainland of Mexico and she is always posting pictures of quaint and attractive Mexican villages and towns.  I think we took the wrong trip if that was what we wanted to find.   Desert, rock, cactus and beautiful beaches is what we have found.   Well, and now a small village.

And old trees in the town square.

And the Mission. The bells were ringing for Mass and to police were out directing what little traffic was coming into town this fine New Year's Day.  (More pictures on Liz's blog...) The Mission is made of Volcanic rock and appears quite sturdy.....

The rope on one of the bells...well maybe not quite as sturdy, but certainly functional.

The Mission garden to the left of the church is filled with all different fora and fauna of the desert and all carefully labeled.   Someone puts a lot of care and attention into the garden. No need to go to the Desert Museum to find out about the cactus and growing things of these lands.   Just come to church.

The desert garden and part of the church buildings that create a walled courtyard.

Here are the rigs parked right on the main street with permission and direction of the the police early noted.   Good to know that you won't come back and find a ticket.

Remi's Mexican cousin waiting at the front of the church.  He had his tags on and seemed to know what he was doing.

Liz admiring the trees providing cooling shade for the square.

From the square looking back to the Mission.

Someone's walled garden .

Double and triple gating.  Need to keep the humans out and the little critters, out or in as needed.....

Another walled garden.  You notice the lush greener in a land that is mostly brown.  If it exists it is because someone cares enough to spend the time and money to water it.....

The you can walk on an peak over the side of the wall and catch a view of the private lagoon and oasis.

On the way back to the RVs, Liz and I were ready to move on down the road.  We could have sat and rested some more but decided against it.

SO down the road we drove and we caught up with Beth and Mitch at the beach Santispec.  I set to work walking dogs and going to dinner with Mitch and Liz set to getting her kayak down and ready for the tomorrow.
