On the Beach

I think several of us have mentioned that vendors come along the beach and sell most anything you might need (except that internet connection).....There are also two restaurants on the beach.  Mitch liked this wait staff best. Can you tell why?   But, alas, his name was not Pedro.

There was a donkey tied up behind the beach in the scrub.  He showed up in slightly different places each day so someone was moving him around so he could maybe find something to chew on?  I know folks back in Ohio that raise donkeys and have mules.  Mules are known to eat stuff horses won't.  The grazing just isn't that lush around here.    Riding back to the campground in Liz's rig the other day I also wondered where anyone would ride him.  The way to town was back over the twisty mountain roads. I tried to imagine the donkey trail leading through the deep washes but couldn't.

Beth and Liz out on the water.

The closest island with its share of pelicans sitting high up on the rocks and diving off into the water for fish.

Maybe a little wave actions in the big storms.?

The Babes do Mulege.....

Mitch washing her floors....she as she mutters, "The sand....the sand...."  :=)

Mitch lent her kayak to the nice Mom and daughter parked next to her and when I  got in I sent the Dad out to catch them in mine.  They traded off the daughter.  (And this is for Sharon....you are not the only person who puts the seat in backwards.....inquire with Mitch. :=)

Liz and I had seen birds the day before off in the far distance and thought maybe there was a rookery nearby. Today we  paddled up to the birds and the dolphins.   Well and some Pelicans.  What ever the Dolphins and birds were feeding on the Pelicans were either not interested or already had their fill.  The Dolphins were feeding for quite a while. They moved away from us and around the nearby island and then moved back again.  As interesting as the Dolphins were, the birds were very dramatic.  They would swirl in tight circles and then thirty or forty of them would dive bomb straight down into the water, I am supposing for the fish.  The multiple pop pop pop pops into the water were very loud and the water would shoot up as if someone had fired a machine gun at one area.

Coming back to the beach the kayaks pass over many star fish in the water....

This site and rig belonged to a German couple. They work in the tourist industry in Europe as guides (speak multiple languages) and on their three months off fly into the states and pick up their rig that they leave parked in Southern California and head down to Baja and relax on the beach for a couple months.   They were parked next to Mitch and she talked with them more.

Pelican Rost.....

While kayaking, Liz and I got to pick out which casita in a nearby cove that we might need to rent out for the season......

There were also some very nice hoses perched high on the hills around that same cove.  Some even had steps leading down to their waterfront.  Some did not because the rocks were too steep.  And some were some where in the middle.  See the bottom of their kayak next to the water?

Careful on the steps and, oh, on the rope challenge, too.

This secluded campsite was available by water only....

So, now I know what to do when the paint job goes completely.   Never knew that they made green rust paint?   I think this is the rig that the campgrounds in the states try to avoid by including the ten year rule.....

A last look at the Santispec Beach.....This is why you learn to boondock.
